Frequently asked questions...

What will a first session look like?

Our first session together is a free preliminary meeting.  We may touch gently on what brings you to seek therapy, your family background and your current circumstance. It will be a time for me to introduce myself and a time for you to ask any questions you might have. We will set aside an hour for this.

What happens after our first session?

After our initial meeting, I will need to aquire permission from my supervisor before we commence working together. This is a normal procedure for any training therapist when working with a new client and ensures I am a good fit for your needs.

How long can therapy take?

A person may enter therapy for weeks, months or years. When beginning therapy there is an initial commitment needed of 3 sessions. This allows us the time to get to know one another in order to facilitate deeper work. Beyond this, the length of commitment is always your decision. It is important however to feel safe enough to discuss thoughts of drawing therapy to a close as endings are important and can often be fruitful work in themselves.

What will a typical therapy session look like?

Our therapy sessions take place weekly.  We will meet at the same time and place each week. At the start of our session together we will often take time to ground in presence, either by taking a few minutes of silence or a short meditation. The session will last for 60 minutes. Within the session much can be explored and felt, all contained within the relational field and dialogue between us.

Who am I training with?

I am currently training at The Institute of Psychosynthesis in London. The course is aimed towards accreditation with the UKCP which is the accrediting body for all UK Psychotherapists.  I undergo regular supervision, personal weekly therapy and monthly training weekends as part of my professional development.

What are my fees?

Our first preliminary session is free. Further weekly sessions are at a reduced rate of £25 per hour. Payment should be made weekly prior to our session and paid via bank transfer.

Do I offer online therapy?

I do not currently offer online therapy.  We would only take our work online in extenuating circumstance and only after 3 innitial sessions have taken place.  This is due to a great deal of experiencial-content being lost when we are not sitting together in the same room.

When & where?

I work out of a comfortable quiet clinic room in Stroud as well as Cheltenham
